Kick your praise into high gear as the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration kicks off Super Weekend

The highly-anticipated 23rd Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration returns to television with faith, family and football during the biggest weekend in sports! Premiering with a brand new trio of distribution partners, Super Bowl Gospel Celebration is simulcast on Saturday, February 12 at 8pm ET/7pm CT on Bounce TV and for the very first time will stream on Prime Video and on IMDb TV, both without need of a Prime membership.

The debut telecast will be followed by an encore on ION Sunday, February 13 at 12am ET/11pm CT, and will continue to be available to stream in front of the paywall on Prime Video and on IMDb TV throughout February in celebration of Black History Month.

Themed “Catch the Light,” the groundbreaking praise and worship extravaganza is an annual highlight of Super Bowl weekend, hosted this season by inspirational figure Sarah Jakes Roberts and funnyman DC Young Fly. This unique annual praise fest highlights NFL players and their faith, with uplifting songs of joy and shout-worthy, never-before-seen performances and mashups. Viewers are offered a rare glimpse into the spiritual lives of their favorite NFL players, as well as what inspires them to greatness each day. The hour-long show was taped in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Dallas as a concession to the still ongoing COVID pandemic.

“This 23-year journey with the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration is a testament to how faith can grow the seed of a dream into a reality far greater than any plan we might have set out to achieve. Despite every obstacle placed in our path, our faith in this vision has been rewarded with this anointed production that has touched the lives of so many.”

Melanie Few, Founder and Executive Producer

Super Bowl Gospel Celebration is making a special presentation to the 2022 Lifetime of Inspiration Award recipient Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders, sponsored by Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator. The current head coach for Jackson State University’s football team, two-time Super Bowl champion, Pro Football Hall of Famer, and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year is being honored for his commitment to bringing more visibility to HBCU sports franchises, and reinvigorating HBCU sports into high-profile must watch events. Coach Prime is one of only four NFL Players to ever receive this prestigious award.

“As we approach our 23rd anniversary, I am so very thankful for the support and partnership of the National Football League. I am also excited for the amazing partners that have joined forces to help elevate this brand. It is truly a privilege to honor Coach Prime as I have followed him his entire career and watched him be a light to others, both on and off the field,” added Few, the only woman and person of color that produces an NFL sanctioned event during Super Bowl week.

“Super Bowl Gospel provides an opportunity for our players to celebrate their faith,” said Arthur McAfee, the NFL’s senior vice president for player engagement. “A large number of our players are of faith, and they celebrate that faith many ways during the course of the game and throughout the season. You may see them take a knee and pray, either prior to or after the game. This is one of the natural connections we have to help players elevate their platform.”

This year’s production features a roster of anointed performances including a Gospel medley from multiple Grammy Award winner CeCe Winans; a duet between Pastor Mike, Jr. and multi-talented entertainer CeeLo Green; Mali Music joining singer/actress Chloe in a heartfelt collaboration to salute individuals impacted by cancer; singer/songwriter Natalie Grant; and a cypher led by two-time Grammy-winning Christian rapper Lecrae.

Songstress Regina Belle is joining the famed NFL Players Choir for an inspiring song selection closing out the show. Other slated guest appearances include Seattle Seahawks Quarterback – Russell Wilson,
Cleveland Browns Defensive End – Myles Garrett, New Orleans Saints Defensive End – Cam Jordan, Minnesota Vikings Quarterback – Kirk Cousins, Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver – Stefon Diggs, Kansas City Chiefs Tight End – Travis Kelce, New England Patriots Linebacker and Defensive Player of the Year contender – Matt Judon.

The Black Women’s Health Imperative, the first and only national non-profit focused on the health and wellness of Black women and girls, will present a special recognition to retired Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams for his contributions to driving life-saving cancer screenings through his nonprofit, The DeAngelo Williams Foundation.

The Super Bowl Gospel Celebration continues its decades long run as the only sanctioned gospel event and will be available to stream on Prime Video in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, and on IMDb TV in the U.S. and the U.K. Super Bowl Gospel Celebration (SBGC) was originally founded and executive produced in 1999 as a gospel brunch in Miami by Atlanta-based marketing consultant Melanie Few and continues as the only multicultural program and inspirational event sanctioned by the NFL during Super Bowl weekend. The evening brings together an ensemble of NFL players, gospel/contemporary Christian performers, award-winning musicians spanning all genres, and faith-based leaders on one stage for a spectacular show filled with song, prayer, hope and uplifting messages.

Past SBGC shows have featured performers such as Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell Williams, Koryn Hawthorne, Patti Labelle, Erica Campbell, Gladys Knight, Fantasia, Donnie McClurkin, and Anthony Hamilton among others.

This year’s Super Bowl Gospel Celebration is sponsored by NFL Player Engagement, Black Women’s Health Imperative, United Airlines, Juice Plus+, Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator, and Compassion International. For more information, visit and join the social conversation using

Reach Records artist, Hulvey drops long-awaited debut album ‘Christopher’ and Official Music Video For ‘Can’t Tell It All’

Reach Records artist, Hulvey drops long-awaited debut album ‘Christopher’ and Official Music Video For ‘Can’t Tell It All’

Dubbed as Lecrae’s protege, the latest Reach Records signee, hip hop artist Hulvey, has released his long-awaited debut album Christopher. In support of the global release, Hulvey opened up to This Is Me TV for his personal documentary Where Do I Belong?, which released earlier this week, the multifaceted artist has also dropped the official music video for his new single “Can’t Tell It All.” Directed by Jonny Clay “Can’t Tell it All” shot in and around Atlanta. When speaking about the song, Hulvey says, “ ‘The Can’t Tell It All’ video is my favorite one I’ve done yet, because how it captures the grit but also the heart of my music. I love how I go from the dark shots to being in a bamboo forest. The video makes the song even better. Shoutout to Jonny Clay for making it happen.”

“Can’t Tell It All” is one of the dozen tracks featured on Hulvey’s brand new album ChristopherThe album takes listeners through 22-year-old’s life, the journey of being an adolescent teen in high school, to seeing the importance of community and mentorship and the freedom and deliverance he received through Christ over some of his internal hardships including anxiety.

“I started breaking free of all my anxiousness, so many anxious thoughts and worries that I have struggled with for years, and so I wrote about it,” shares Hulvey. “As dark as 2020 was for people, for me personally, I found beauty and peace within it.”

The project features guest appearances by Lecrae, SVRCINA, Andy Mineo and BigBreeze. Pushing musical influences aside, the new music pouring out of Hulvey lyrically and sonically, reveals his true authentic self; embracing his hip-hop and pop background. Christopher is the follow up full- length project to his EP BRKNHRT that was released in 2020 giving listeners a taste of what to expect from the breakout artist and it immediately garnered him national praise. Pandora named him “Christian Artist to Watch in 2020”, his tracks ‘Higher’ and ‘Real Love’ from Hulvey Vol. 1 and Hulvey Vol. 2 were featured on VH1’s Love and Hip Hop Atlanta in 2020 and ‘Cold Blooded’ was featured on ABC’s hit show ‘The Rookie’.

Since his initial music introduction last year, the versatile artist has grown a great deal since the world was introduced to him last year, but within that time he has grown personally and spiritually. He has a lot to say and wants to share it.  “I have a passion: I wanted people to experience God. People are hungry for hope and right now is the time to usher people into God, He is hope. He is the answer.”

Wande surprises fans with “Blessed Up Remix” feat. Lecrae & Mike Todd

Wande surprises fans with “Blessed Up Remix” feat. Lecrae & Mike Todd

It’s been two years since Reach Records introduced the world to the talents of Wande, where she also became the first female artist signed to the hip hop label. Fans were introduced to her heart and passion for her faith, writing and rapping with the release of “Blessed Up”, in which her freshman album EXIT and mini EP The Decision followed. Today, to celebrate this two-year landmark, the Nigerian born, Texas raised artist is dropping a brand new remix to her debut single Blessed Up featuring Lecrae and Mike Todd.

Along with bringing a new flavor to the song that marked her musical beginnings Reach and amidst the rise of racial injustice, Wande is looking to use this moment to bring awareness and generate support for black owned entrepreneurs and business’ in and around the Greater Atlanta Area.

“With this new Blessed Up Remix, I wanted to create a video that would draw attention and celebrate some dope entrepreneurs within the black community,” says Wande. “I want to invite people to experience a bit more of what their day-to-day looks and feels like and witness the importance and beauty in my community.”

Within the last two years, Wande’s infectious personality and effortless raps have made a lasting impression on new listeners including former First Lady, Michelle Obama, who featured Wande on her podcast’ Vol. 1 playlist on Spotify. Wande’s song “Come My Way,” which features Nigerian artist Teni, was selected for campaign with ULTA that launched on SoundCloud’s platform and ESPN selected her music as ‘music of the month” three times, and her song “Be The Light” was also used in July 2020 on WNBA trailer. Most recently, Wande’s track “Woo” was recently chosen as the song for an Apple advertising campaign for the new iPhone 12 mini. The campaign launched on TikTok and was used on four Apple Ads and accumulated over 4.3 Billion cumulative views on the MakeItMini challenge.

This is just the beginning for the young female artist, fans can also catch her later this year starring in OWN’s new reality series “Young & Gospel”. The show follows the lives of four young gospel artists as they pursue their dreams and live life on their own terms while staying true to their faith and their families. These young women have formed an unconventional sisterhood filled with love, admiration, friendly competition and respect. Alongside Wande, the series also stars singers Koryn Hawthorne, Bri Babineaux and Jekalyn Carr. It is produced by Thinkfactory Media, an ITV America company. Adam Reed, Adam Freeman, Jordana Hochman, Phil Thornton and Jen McClure-Metz are executive producers.

R&C The Fragrance Duo By Russell Wilson & Ciara

Russell Wilson and Ciara are sharing their passion for fragrance by introducing R&C The Fragrance Duo, marking their first creation of an eau de parfum together, inspiring a belief that togetherness is the key to happiness. The Grammy Award-Winning Singer Songwriter and NFL Seattle Seahawk Quarterback and Superbowl Champion, have created a unique pairing of scents stored within two entwined magnetic glass bottles, symbolizing a true connection.  Starting November 17th, 2020, The Fragrance Duo is available exclusively at for $90 (50 ml each).  A portion of all proceeds will benefit Ciara and Russell’s Why Not You Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to education, children’s health and fighting poverty.

“To do life together is the greatest gift, and to be able to create our first fragrance together was a dream come true. We are special on our own, but there is nothing more powerful and more magnetic than when we are together and that is reflected in the entire package from the bottle design to the blends inside. Being able to also give back was especially important to both of us – and doing so through our Why Not You Foundation was an essential piece that adds to the meaning of launching the fragrance.”

Ciara & Russell Wilson

A unique design is a feat in the fragrance world and this first-of-its-kind packaging perfectly captures the sensual, modern essence of the fragrances it holds. More than just a perfume bottle, the Duo’s timeless and organically shaped aesthetic reflects the concept and connection of the scents themselves. The innovative interlocking magnetic system connects the two bottles, creating a sculptural piece of art that looks as beautiful on your vanity as it does on your mantle.  Combining beauty with functionality, the weighted and etched chrome glass bottles have a mirrored finish that reflect the refined craftsmanship and artistry of the overall experience.  A perfect complement to both blends, it was important for Russell and Ciara to create an iconic statement that was as beautiful and luxurious as the fragrance inside.  The Fragrance Duo engages all the senses. The Fragrance Duo was developed by Russell and Ciara with Perfumers Catherine Selig and Linda Chinery from Takasago.

Russell’s scent is effortlessly sexy with an iconic, refined freshness and is described as a Woody Aromatic.  The immediate appeal of invigorating bergamot and black tea blend with smooth notes of ambroxan to expose an addictive contrast on the skin that is hard to resist. As it blends in perfect harmony with its aromatic heart, notes of lavender combine with juicy pear blossom and waterlily conveying strength and dynamic energy.  A smooth blend of patchouli, musk and vetiver drive the scent, asserting an unmistakably sensual finish.

As the fragrance warms the skin, smooth musk and sandalwood blend into addictive notes of vanilla for an irresistible signature that lasts.

Gospel Artists Make Joyful Noise After Bout with Coronavirus

Gospel recording artist Shontelle Norman-Beatty is blessed with phenomenal talent. The new DARE Records artist shows off her vocals on her first single, a contemporary spin on the classic “Jesus Will Fix It (Trouble in My Way),” available on digital and streaming platforms including Apple MusicSpotifyAmazon MusicPandora, and Tidal on Friday, November 20, 2020 (to listen to the single, click here). Released during the country’s unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, Shontelle Norman-Beatty has also survived her bout with the devastating COVID-19 virus.

Though she had no temperature or fatigue, Shontelle got tested that afternoon. She recalls, “The doctor said, ‘Well, Mrs. Norman-Beatty, you’re positive.’ And I said, ‘Okay.’ He said, ‘Do you have any questions for me? Because there’s no cure for this.  All we can do is send you home, and all we can do is tell you that if it gets worse, go to the hospital. That’s it.’ I was shocked … When I went to bed on Sunday night, I felt fine. But on that Monday morning, when I woke up, I couldn’t move. I was hurting from my neck to my feet.” Shontelle says she spent the next five days quarantined in a bedroom, battling debilitating fatigue. Complicating her situation was that her husband, a pastor, and one of her sons also began to experience symptoms. She believes her recovery is due to forcing herself to get up from her bed and walk outside, taking vitamins, and heeding a friend’s advice to drink not only tea but hot toddies to sweat out the virus. And, of course, prayer. “I’m thankful that my experience was what it was, and it wasn’t detrimental, and my husband is not planning a funeral,” says Shontelle with signature humor. “I’m thanking God for that. This whole experience, for my husband and myself, has been eye-opening. Everybody needs to be proactive versus reactive. What I mean by that is, go ahead and start taking the vitamins, eating healthy, and getting exercise before you get it.”

Jarrrell Smalls was diagnosed with the Coronavirus and after coming through, he’s back with a message, “We Need Your Power” You’ve heard the song put to viral videos of Muslim men doing a traditional dance, but Smalls makes it clear who he’s talking about in his own concept video for the song. Smalls told his story to The Post And Courier and has confessed that his new ministry is to tell others about the severity of the Coronavirus. Smalls and his group made a splash with the infectious “Prayer Room” that has taken over every stage the groups has ever performed it on. We’re glad Jarrell Smalls is doing better and even more excited about new music coming from the rising quartet gospel star.

Meet Venus Opal Reese, the Hot Mess Millionaire

The pilot of Dr. Venus Opal Reese’s docuseries, Hot Mess Millionaire, has accumulated over two million streams and counting in less than six months with tons of five-star reviews on Amazon Prime. However, when Dr. Venus submitted the entire series to Amazon, it was turned down.

The Hot Mess Millionaire series is based on the life of Dr. Venus Opal Reese. She reveals the “raw and uncut” reality of what it truly takes to be “self-made” – from being homeless on the “mean streets” of Baltimore, MD, to graduating from Stanford University with a Ph.D., to becoming a Black woman millionaire.

A mansion. Luxury cars. World travel. Multimillion-dollar home-based business. Happy marriage. Bestselling author. Dr. Venus had made it “out” and was living the American Dream. But when the trauma from living on the streets finally caught up with her, the Cinderella life she had created became a soul-crushing nightmare.

The pain of being rejected by Amazon

“I was devastated,” says Dr. Venus. “For all their talk about making room at the table for women and people of color, it appears those seats are reserved for superstars, not up and coming writers/producers. Make no mistake: I’m extremely grateful they streamed my pilot. They didn’t have to.”

She continues, “It has exposed me to people who would never have known of my work. I had awesome reviews and there was a hunger for a Black woman speaking truth on their platform. I was so certain they would want the rest of the series since they had greenlit the pilot.”

But when Amazon said no, Dr. Venus said yes!

Instead of giving up, Dr. Venus has decided to self-produce the series on her YouTube channel and share it with her tribe on social media. She comments, “We as Black women often can’t wait for a seat at the table. Most times, we must build our own table.”

The eight-episode series began airing on Thursday, Oct 22, 2020, at 4pm PST on YouTube. For exclusive access, “1st Look Screening” of each episode and business Q&A with Dr. Venus, be sure to join the Hot Mess Millionaire Facebook Community.

I’m committed to empowering Black Women to have our own, so we don’t have to wait to be chosen,” Dr. Venus says.

This year’s HBCU homecoming season was unlike anything ever before, but students, faculty and alumni still came together to celebrate virtually across the country. To honor the spirit and camaraderie of the HBCU community, Pepsi, in partnership with “HBCU Homecoming Celebration on iHeartRadio,” is bringing together the exceptional marching bands from Florida A&M, Hampton University, Prairie View A&M and North Carolina A&T – some of whom are traditionally rivals – to create a unified virtual musical event.  “iHeartRadio Presents The Pepsi HBCU Marching Band Experience” is voiced by award-winning entertainer, philanthropist, entrepreneur and current HBCU student Megan Thee Stallion, and media mogul and cultural architect Charlamagne tha God, and serves as a reminder of the longstanding fall traditions among HBCUs, which typically bring communities around the country together for an unmatched celebration at the intersection of culture, community, music and football.

Pepsi – a brand with a rich history in music, sports and entertainment – worked collaboratively with iHeartMedia and the four HBCU band directors and their marching bands to curate a first-of-its-kind, tour-de-force virtual performance featuring a cross-generational arrangement of the Curtis Mayfield classic “Move on Up” and Megan Thee Stallion’s chart-topping hit “Savage.”

It is such an honor to be part of bringing the spirit and energy of HBCU homecoming performances to life for the students and alumni that won’t be able to see it in person this year,” said Megan Thee Stallion. “HBCUs foster an incredible musical culture – one that helped me develop my career – so to be a part of ‘iHeartRadio Presents The Pepsi HBCU Marching Band Experience’ and champion that love for music with these bands is truly special.

The virtual experience celebrates a month-long “HBCU Homecoming Celebration on iHeartRadio,” which kicked off October 19, as a series of inspiring events designed to shine a light on HBCU pride, Black excellence and student achievement through uplifting, high-energy celebrations across multiple iHeartRadio platforms. The “iHeartRadio Presents The Pepsi HBCU Marching Band Experience” is available on and the Pepsi brand’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

“The impact of 2020 has upended a number of events and traditions across the country, including one of the most cherished and anticipated events within the HBCU community – homecoming. We wanted to create something special that gave these marching bands the opportunity to perform for the students, faculty, alumni, friends and families that are not able to celebrate homecoming in person this year.  This virtual performance is a unifying celebration of HBCUs and a chance to show our love, appreciation and support for these incredible music programs that, year after year, bring so much joy to so many around the country.”

Greenwood has secured $3 million in seed funding from private investors as the first digital banking platform for Black and Latinx people and business owners.  Greenwood features best-in-class online banking services and innovative ways of giving back to Black and Latinx causes and businesses.

  • Andrew J. Young, civil rights legend, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and former Mayor of Atlanta
  • Michael Render, aka Killer Mike, rapper and activist in Black financial empowerment
  • Ryan Glover, Greenwood Chairman and founder of Bounce TV network

“It’s no secret that traditional banks have failed the Black and Latinx community,” said Ryan Glover.  “We needed to create a new financial platform that understands our history and our needs going forward, a banking platform built by us and for us, a platform that helps us build a stronger future for our communities. This is our time to take back control of our lives and our financial future.  That is why we launched Greenwood, modern banking for the culture.”

“Today, a dollar circulates for 20 days in the white community but only six hours in the Black community,” said Michael ‘Killer Mike’ Render. “Moreover, a Black person is twice as likely as a white person to be denied a mortgage. This lack of fairness in the financial system is why we created Greenwood.”

Greenwood’s executive leadership includes:

  • Aparicio Giddins, President & Chief Technology Officer (previously of Bank of America and TD Bank)
  • David Tapscott, Chief Marketing Officer (previously of Green Dot and Combs Enterprises)
  • Andrew “Bo” Young, III, Board Member (managing partner, Andrew Young Investment Group)
  • Dr. Paul Judge, Board Member (co-founder of Pindrop and TechSquare Labs)

Greenwood’s initial products are savings and spending accounts that come with a stunningly designed black metal debit card for customers who sign up by the end of the year.  Advanced features like Apple, Samsung, and Android pay, virtual debit cards, peer-to-peer transfers, mobile check deposits, and free ATM usage in over 30,000 locations are offered with no hidden fees. Customers who invite their friends to open accounts receive cash awards as a thank you from Greenwood. All deposits are FDIC insured by a partner bank.

Additionally, Greenwood plans to work with brick and mortar minority-owned banks to provide deposits to help strengthen historically black banks.

“The work that we did in the civil rights movement wasn’t just about being able to sit at the counter. It was also about being able to own the restaurant,” said Ambassador Andrew Young. “We have the skills, talent and energy to compete anywhere in the world, but to grow the economy, it has to be based on the spirit of the universe and not the greed of the universe. Killer Mike, Ryan and I are launching Greenwood to continue this work of empowering black and brown people to have economic opportunity.”

Greenwood Gives Back

Greenwood has three key avenues to support Black and Latinx causes and businesses:

  • For every customer sign-up, Greenwood will provide five free meals to a family in need.
  • Every swipe of a Greenwood debit card will prompt a donation to UNCF for education, Goodr to feed the hungry, or NAACP to support civil rights.
  • And every month, Greenwood will provide a $10,000 grant to a Black or Latinx small business owner that is a Greenwood customer.

History of the name “Greenwood”

The Greenwood name pays homage to the prosperous “Black Wall Street,” part of the  Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, during the early 20th Century — a center of African American enterprise, entertainment, skills, wealth and investment capital.   Though it was destroyed by white mobs in 1921, the Greenwood District remains an enduring symbol of the economic potential of community solidarity. The new Greenwood neobank takes inspiration from the entrepreneurial and empowering spirit of the Greenwood District where a dollar typically circulated 36 times – and for up to a year — within the Black community. The new Greenwood also is proud to be a backer of the contemporary Greenwood Culture Center in Oklahoma.

“Songs of the Season” to Support Inspire Change Initiative

Today, the NFL announced two-time Grammy award-winning emcee LECRAE as the third artist to be featured in its “Songs of the Season” series. Lecrae’s “Get Back Right,” which is off his album, Let the Trap Say Amen (a collaborative album with award-winning producer, Zaytoven)will be heard throughout the NFL playoffs across several telecasts. See below for song and sample broadcast clips:

“Throughout my entire career, I have always hoped that my music would inspire and uplift. It is an amazing honor to partner with the NFL and its Inspire Change initiative to combine our platforms to change the communities we call home.”

Songs of the Season is a multi-tier, season-long initiative that will highlight stars and emerging artists of all genres. The series showcases musicians that deliver a song to be integrated in all NFL promotions during the season. Songs have debuted during in-game broadcasts and have been released to all digital streaming platforms (DSPs) worldwide.

A best-selling author, entrepreneur, speaker, thought leader, philanthropist, and Co-owner/President of Reach Records, Lecrae has been recognized for his social justice/restorative work in the community. He has partnered on several major projects to develop Atlanta’s English Avenue, an area known for its rampant drug trafficking and violent crime statistics. He also serves as a member of the Board of Advisory for Peace Academy, the first school in the English Avenue area to be opened in more than 20 years. In addition to the restoration of community through academic ventures and real estate acquisitions, Lecrae is promoting healthy families continuing two media campaigns – “Man Up” and “This Is Fatherhood” – encouraging male urban youth to remain responsible and active in their children(s)’ lives.

“The ‘Songs of the Season’ initiative is just one of the ways we shine a light on the great work NFL players and clubs continue to do as it relates to social justice,” said ANNA ISAACSON, NFL Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility. “An award-winning musician and adamant social justice supporter such as Lecrae is a perfect pairing for ‘Songs of the Season’ and will help amplify the great work being done in our communities.”

All revenue generated from Songs of the Season will support Inspire Change grant recipients as part of the NFL’s social justice initiative with focus on the following priority areas: education and economic advancement, police and community relations, and criminal justice reform.

Lecrae is currently in the studio recording his 9th studio album, Restoration, and writing “I Am Restored,” a follow-up to his best-selling book, Unashamed.
