Buddy Guy was in Dallas at the Majestic Theatre for a stop on his “Buddy’s Got the Blues” tour.
The blues icon was in Dallas for a night of blues and a jam good time. Guy played and wowed the crowd with classsic Blues tunes. Guy wore a variation of his signature polka dots, which really didn’t stand out under the lights. Instead, his playing, singing and er, gyrations held our attention. Guy is a 2026 GRAMMY Award winner. His “Ain’t Done with the Blues” album won Traditional Blues Album of the Year, adding to his 14 total wins. Guy joined Blues legend Bobby Rush on “I Lied to You” and made a big splash performing it LIVE at the Oscars this year. Buddy Guy‘s longevity has endeared him with fans young and old as he continues his journey as torchbearer and trailblazer for the genre.
Guy’s band was equally amazing and shined during their solos. Two things Guy said during his set that stuck out were, “If you didn’t want the blues, you shouldn’t have called me!” and “It don’t matter how good you play, somebody got a ******* frown on their face!” On one hand, it’s wisdom. On the other, it’s experience. Either way, Buddy Guy wasn’t lying about either. At 90 years old, he continues to create music and share it across the world with audiences who love it.
