Sharifah Hardie Launches “Black Guest List” a New Platform Connecting Authority Black Voices with Media Opportunities

Black Guest List connects Black luminaries with radio hosts, television producers, live shows, digital outlets, print publications and trendy podcasts looking for Black guests.

Founded by Sharifah Hardie, the newly launched platform Black Guest List provides media outlets immediate access to Black influencers, Black thought leaders, Black politicians, Black business professionals, Black authors, Black entertainers, and Black artists interested in locating media opportunities. Historically it is hard for hosts to find people from diverse backgrounds to interview. Black Guest List makes finding these guests simple, by creating a comprehensive searchable database of potential guests and providing a space for Black people worldwide to share their stories.

“We are not looking to just make a list of Black people. Our aim is to provide access to media opportunities qualified guests otherwise would not be aware of, to increase Black representation in the media and put their distinct views front and center,” says Sharifah Hardie Founder of Black Guest List, Chief Executive Officer of IT TV Network & President of the Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce – Long Beach Area.

As a talk show host I don’t see many Black guests listed on the websites I use to find new guests. I want to change that. I want to make Black Guest List the go-to platform for Black people of note to find interviews on podcasts, television shows, print publications and radio shows and make it easier for anyone with a microphone to find a fascinating guest without dealing with intermediaries!”

Radio hosts, podcast producers, and television show bookers can use the well-designed interface of the website to find expert guests for interviews. With so many radio talk show hosts, podcast producers, online radio show producers, satellite radio producers, and television program bookers searching for new interview guests each week, it can be tough to book a suitable one in time. Black Guest List will now make their lives much easier.

Whether the media outlet needs a Black comedian, Black doctor, Black professor, Black athlete, or a Black educator — Black Guest List is the ultimate Black media source for anyone looking for guests for a tremendous enlightening interview. Hosts can readily explore the available guests for their shows, and media outlets can submit
opportunities and requirements. For more information visit the official website at www.BlackGuestList.com.

HBO Launches Limited-Series ‘Where Do You Exist?’ Podcast

HBO Limited Podcast Debuts Today Echoing Themes of New Show ‘HERE AND NOW,’ Which Premiered February 11

HBO debuts its new six-episode podcast “Where Do You Exist?”, with the first episode available now on Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud. Highlighting central themes from HBO’s new series created by Alan Ball, HERE AND NOW, the podcast weaves together a series of live, pre-recorded stories from thought leaders and special guests across the country exploring the complexities of identity, belonging and family. Learn more about HERE AND NOW and “Where Do You Exist?” on HBO.com.

The “Where Do You Exist?” podcast was recorded live in Portland, Los Angeles and New York City. Each live event invited speakers to share humorous, yet timely, personal stories touching on experiences of trials, triumphs and moments of personal discovery that helped define who they are in the context of today’s world, tapping into HERE AND NOW’s core themes.

HERE AND NOW centers on a progressive couple played by Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter, who have one biological daughter and three adopted multicultural children from around the world – an effort to create a new kind of family. Exploring what it’s like to be an “other” in America, the series touches on political, familial, cultural, spiritual and psychological issues of today’s society.

The live recordings were hosted by notable comedian Chris Garcia, whose credits span NPR’s This American Life, The WTF Podcast with Marc Maron and Comedy Central’s @Midnight, among others. In Portland, speakers included Chris Garcia, Luis Ortega, Nong Poonsukwattana, Lucia Martinez Valdivia, Margaret Jacobsen and Solomon Georgio; Los Angeles speakers included Samantha Futerman, Mary Beth LaRue, Ira Madison, Andrew Ti, Priyanka Mattoo and Julissa Calderon; and New York City speakers included Baratunde Thurston, Lacey Schwartz, Lisa Pollak, Eudora Peterson and Emil Wilbekin. Speakers shared anecdotes exploring identity via various topics ranging from the moment they realized their own race, to discovering their adoption status as a young adult, to reconciling sexual identity in the context of faith and familial relationships.

“HERE AND NOW dares to explore the multifaceted nature of family and identity in modern society, and we felt that it was important we capture the nuance of each person’s own lived experiences when putting together the podcast,” said Lucinda Martinez, SVP Multicultural and International Marketing at HBO. “The deeply intimate structure of podcasting provided a unique opportunity to convey the show’s principal themes through the eyes of thought leaders and tastemakers who are going through life’s ebbs and flows, every day, just like many of us.”

HBO’s “Where Do You Exist?” podcast is available now on Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud and will roll out over the course of six weeks. Keep up with the podcast and HERE AND NOW on HBO.com and Facebook.
