Wilhelmina Models and JCPenney Team Up To Launch Shaquille O’Neal’s Big & Tall Model Search

Casting call events to be held in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Dallas to find the next big & tall models to join Wilhelmina’s “Titan” division

Wilhelmina Models is partnering with JCPenney and its big & tall style ambassador, Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal, to launch “Shaquille O’Neal’s Big & Tall Model Search presented by JCPenney.” Through this unique collaboration of industry leaders, the nationwide model search addresses a growing need in the fashion industry for big & tall models.  One-third of American men today identify as either big, tall or big and tall, representing ten percent of the U.S. menswear business.

“When I launched the Shaquille O’Neal XLG collection exclusively at JCPenney, it was a challenge to find big and tall guys to model for the campaign, so we asked our friends at Wilhelmina to hit the streets to find a few good men who are larger than life,” said O’Neal. “Through this exciting partnership with Wilhelmina and JCPenney, we’re hosting the biggest and tallest model search around to help big, sexy guys like me finally get the recognition they deserve.”

Shaquille O’Neal

Big and tall men can enter the contest and find more information, including size requirements, online at ShaqJCPModelSearch.com, now through April 28. Live casting call events will also be held in the following JCPenney store locations:

  • Atlanta: JCPenney at the South Point Shopping Center in McDonough, April 11 from 5 – 8 p.m. ET
    • Shaquille O’Neal will be making a personal appearance at this event to meet big and tall men interested in becoming the next Titan.
  • Los Angeles: JCPenney at the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, April 18 from 5 – 8 p.m. PT
  • Dallas: JCPenney at Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, April 25 from 5 – 8 p.m. CT

Winners from the Shaquille O’Neal Big & Tall Model Search will be signed to Wilhelmina’s “Titan” division of big and tall male models. The winners will also be featured alongside O’Neal in the JCPenney fall marketing campaign, wearing O’Neal’s namesake collection along with the retailer’s popular big & tall private brand, The Foundry Big & Tall Supply Co.

Steven Land, the men’s fashion brand, launches its Spring Collection, Harlem Stories.  The collection captures the spirit of Uptown’s rich fashion history.  For decades, Harlem has set trends and influenced fashion globally.  This seasons’ line took inspiration from the “Dapper Dan’s” and has something for both dress up and casual days.  The marketing campaign features talented actor Jay Hunter from Max Payne, If Loving You Is Wrong and soon to be released Acrimony.  “Hunter is the perfect fit to showcase the new fashion renaissance and tell the Steven Land, ‘Harlem Story.’  He is a former athlete, fitness buff, amazing actor and fashion enthusiast,” says Steven Landman.

Spring 2018 has raised the fashion bar for Steven Land.  The fashion brand will highlight a new casual line as well as new shoe collection.  The casual line focus is on colorful inspirations that can be worn daily.  The shoe collection will also feature new styles and soft bottoms to compliment the casual side of Harlem Stories.  The line will hit stores in early March and available on line at www.stevenland.com now.

The Steven Land line which has been mostly known for its’ fabulous shirts and ties has expanded its offering to include suits, shoes, socks, hats and watches.  The pop-up concept store in Harlem is open 7 days from 10-8pm, complete with an in-store stylist and tailoring services.  You can also find the entire line at www.stevenland.com.

Steven Landman came to America in 1986 from Israel and began selling ties for his brother at New York City flea markets. The marketplace was a haven for immigrants. It was a cornucopia of interesting individuals who brought with them their own unique cultures, backgrounds and styles. Landman interacted with them on a daily basis and developed an affinity for what the public liked regardless of gender, race or color. When Landman’s brother opened a New York haberdashery called “Tie One,” Landman became a buyer and a few years later he launched Steven Land.
