ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
The UIL Football Playoffs semi-final matchups are set and the brackets are full of teams from the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
In 4A Divison 1, Stephenville takes on Celina in what promises to be an unforgettable matchup. The historic football programs clash with a championship berth on the line. Celina remains undeterred by the legal drama surrounding district coaches and employees. In 4A Division 2, Brock takes on Carthage in what should be a great challenge and potential state champion. In 5A Division 1, Aledo gained steam in their quest for another state title avenging last year’s loss to Denton Ryan 43-27 and will face Frisco Lone Star. In 5A Division 2, South Oak Cliff continues its push to return to State with a matchup against red hot Melissa who inched by Aryle 20-19.
In 6A Division 1, Duncanville and Allen square off in a semi with bigger implications than the state game. Duncanville prevailed over red hot Waxahachie 35-27 to setup a thriller against Allen who dominated defending state champions North Crowley. In the other conference final, North Shore takes on Lake Travis. Will North Shore’s championship pedigree push them past Lake Travis? We’ll be watching for the outcome!
In 6A Division 2, Southlake Carroll takes on a determined Desoto team. Their dominance of Willis last weekend was the precursor of to this weekend’s clash. SLC made quick work of a young Denton Guyer team, winning 51-19. Carroll is set on avenging their 2024 state championship loss to Vandergrift who is taking on King this weekend. What are the odds of a rematch? If Desoto, who recently tasted championship glory has something to say about it, it may be a beardown beatdown in Mansfield this weekend!
Who’s going to AT&T Stadium? We’ll know by this time next week. In the interim, we’ll be watching these great matchups and share broadcast and streaming details once locations have been confirmed.
