The early story of the game was stifling defense until Heights broke through with a long pass to Kylee Williams and punched in a score on the next play from the one yard line. After multiple penalties, Heights failed to convert on their PAT. Paschal wasted absolutely no time getting on the board with a long scramble by their quarterback, and with a successful extra point attempt, the Panthers took a 7-6 lead into halftime. Heights recaptured the momentum with their opening drive and scored again, retaking with lead, with gamebreaking receptions from standout Tayrah Wright 12-7.

Throughout the second half, each team moved the ball well but drive stopping turnovers halted any momentum. Another long pass to Kylee Williams brought the Jackets to the goal line, but Paschal intercepted in the end zone and began their comeback bid deep in Heights territory. The Panthers’ drive came to a crushing end when a wayward snap led to a safety and demoralizing turnover at the one minute warning. This thrilling matchup brought an exciting close to this year’s flag season and added another chapter to these vaunted schools’ renewed rivalry. Heights ends their regular season as district champions and earned a chance to play in the state tournament against area schools, this weekend.
