God is Doing a New Thing!
Pastor Erik Vance invites you to join him and his congregation on October 25th at 3:00 PM to celebrate their 4th Church Anniversary, a Grand Opening, and the official unveiling of their new church name! Pastor Vance and the Southside Community Church have transitioned from Fort Worth’s south side to the east side in a move designed by the providence of God and the generosity of the brethren in the Lord. Since acquiring the property months ago, Vance and his congregation have made minor renovations preparing for this exciting new chapter of ministry. Join church members, family members, friends and community members on Sunday, October 25th at 3 PM as Pastor Vance takes the next faith step in his journey of leadership. Pastor Vance says of this momentous occasion, “We look forward to serving this community and being the hands and feet of Jesus for God’s glory!”
Vance’s ministry footprint in Fort Worth began with 13 members as the Southside Community Church. Since its inception, the ministry served many residents born and raised on the south side. Additionally, the ministry served many believers in the transient community of Fort Worth’s south side and neighboring hospital districts. The transition has not been without challenges as some membership didn’t translate to the east side. What brings Vance hope is the discovery of the same type of members on the east side. Many people choose their church based on its proximity to their home and what Vance and ministry bring the community is an anchoring presence as many other ministries leave the area.
In its first year, the church experienced a 400% increase in church attendance and raised far more capital than older, more established churches. Vance is a bi-vocational pastor and poured his earnings into the ministry from intellectual property on Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, paid sponsorships. Those who loved the work, aided in the work by helping Vance secure local sponsorships and recruit other givers to see the vision take off. Though new to Fort Worth, the Atlanta transplant has been doing ministry for 20 years, with 16 of it serving in some type of pastoral capacity. His work on the south side was recognized and Vance was named as one of the most prominent pastors in Fort Worth and recognized by Fort Worth Inc. as one of its 500 Most Influential People in its 2025 and 2026 lists.
Though the chapter on the south side has ended, the story hasn’t.
Vance says, “The same work we did on the Southside of Fort Worth—giving away hundreds of backpacks for back-to-school, hosting turkey drives and Christmas giveaways, presenting end-of-year youth academic achievement awards, and more will continue on the east side of Fort Worth in the Handley-Meadowbrook community.” Vance and his congregation are moving from one historic neighborhood to another and they arrive just ahead of a proposed revitalization project that will run right up to their front door. Pastor Burrell Billingslea, III is coming to celebrate the “new thing” with Pastor Vance and his awaiting congregation. Prophet Kibwana Wright will lead intercessory prayer and psalmist Jackie Owens will sing. Service begins at 3 PM and the public is invited to witness this momentous occasion for Pastor Vance and his congregation.
