I have to admit, I have a guilty pleasure! Not until this season have I been interested in Married at First Sight on Lifetime. Until now, I’ve always thought the premise was horrible. I mean, most of us who have dated are still bewildered once we get married. Ever had that “who the heck did I marry” feeling after a few years?
It’s certain with these couples and I just couldn’t bear to watch a train wreck. Then, I watched. The previews were too good to pass up and boy am I glad that I started watching! This season only has three couples- not sure about previous seasons, though.
Shawniece and Jephte caught my attention from the beginning. I was curious to see how he would adapt to being married to such a beautiful woman. In fact, I thought they’d have the easiest time. To my chagrin, they are having the most difficult time of all! Each week, I’m incredulous as I watch their interaction. It got so bad one episode, I leaned over to my wife and said: “you know it’s bad if I’m talking about him!”

Shawniece cried and cried again and I couldn’t bear it. All the hurt she experienced and I just couldn’t bear it. Then I remembered, “hey, it’s television!” Now, I anxiously await each week’s episode in hopes of Shawniece and Jephte finally warming up to each other. Hopefully this is the week! If not, I don’t know how much more I can take! Get over your fear of ‘strangers’ and love that beautiful woman, Jephte!!
