The Martin Luther King, Jr. tribute concert known as The Black Music and the Civil Rights Movement Concert returns to Dallas Sunday January 18th. Originally held at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters, the concert will be held at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center as TBAAL undergoes a renovation and expansion. For its contribution to the commemoration and continuation of Dr. King’s far-reaching dream, the concert has been awarded a Lone Star Emmy five times! The concert was awarded its latest Emmy Award in 2025 in the “Special Event Coverage” category. This incredible honor bestowed upon Mr. Curtis King and TBAAL punctuates the work done to bring his vision to life.
This year’s performers include Crystal Aikin, Jessica Reedy and Canaan James Hill among many others. Each year, the concert and production are the highlight of King day and King centric activities. There are two performances for the public, Friday morning and Sunday evening, details for both are printed on the flyer. Tickets are still available but going very fast, purchase your tickets, here.
