“I know they can play…” That’s what used to bellow out from Pastor Shelton from the stands during Crowley basketball games in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Crowley basketball was indomitable and with Shelton, joined by students, parents and other supporters, the gym one big echo chamber. Many times, teams concern themselves with playing against their opponents and referees, but a matchup against Crowley meant having to outlast the incessant chants led by Pastor Shelton echoing throughout the gym.

Years later, Pastor Shelton is still leading the chant in Crowley and has lent his support to both schools, who in recent years have regained legendary status with deep runs into the football and basketball playoffs. The legend of Pastor Shelton was immortalized in a track supporting North Crowley football, one of the top football teams in the country. Can they go all the way? Pastor Shelton and the city believe so! It’s 817 versus everybody and after knocking off football juggernaut Duncanville, North Crowley seems poised to finally hoist the championship trophy this weekend at AT&T Stadium and bring it home to the Crowley community. North Crowley faces off against Austin Westlake as the finale to the 2024 UIL Football Season, Saturday, 7 PM at AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The full slate of games is available on the UIL website. Tickets are still available and allow entry to the full day of games.
